| Hey I was just wondering if there was anyway to make my own private server for free (through my computer) and use it as like a LAN server for Minecraft.
Thanks! | |

| Yep, its actually easy as pie. Simple go to the Minecraft.net website, log-in, go to the downloads page and download the "minecraft_server.exe" file. You then run Command Prompt, type in "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and find the "IPv4 address" (which should be something like 192.168.?.?) and put that as your server address once you have started the server. You now have a normal, non-bukkit server You should join us in Funcamdogs server however, its cool | |

Is it able to be a creative server though instead of a survival server?
and can you fly around at all?

and can you fly around at all? With the new update I don't see why not. It should give you the ability to set the gamemode when you start up the server.

and can you fly around at all? You can either change people manually or change the server to creative. To do it manually, just do /gamemode {username} 1 (put the person's FULL username after the /gamemode, also 0=survival & 1=creative). You can do this in-game of you have opped yourself (or via console without the / if not). The other way is a bit more tricky (still easy) but saves you having to use the above command for each player. To change the server, simply shut it down and open up the folder which was created when you ran the .exe You should see a "server.cfg" file, edit that with notepad or notepad++ if you have it. In it, you'll see "gamemode=0", change the 0 to 1 and you are done. Hope this helps, -Redeye P.S. Quick addition - if you want to change anything else whilst you are there, take a look through this useful guide - http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Server.properties

Any ideas? Without the {} (that was just to show where it goes, my mistake)
